First world problems at its finest

Forgive me as I have a major FWP moment. In downtown Austin we had this magical place called Union Park. If you went at 1am you’d go to the Boom Boom Room. This is where you went late in the night when everything is already a blur. The walls were lined in velvet and the room is dark and sweaty. People would just be drunk and dance like maniacs on tables or wherever they could find. As my friend Asi put it, you could catch an STD in the air at the Boom Boom.

If you went for brunch, they had an unlimited buffet and bottomless mimosas for $22. The food was ok, but the mimosas were fabulous. They would fill them up before you ever saw the bottom of your cup. They had multiple flavors and tons of TVs with football on in the fall and let you stay (for unlimited) until around 4pm. Like I said magical. Well a month or two ago, I found out Union Park closed. Out of no where. RIP Union. It was a really sad day.

Enter The Belmont. Not near as cool as Union for brunch (so I’ve heard), but they had a similar food/ drink deal and a DJ. I’ve been there for dinner and happy hour and it was pretty legit.  People were saying it was the next UP so I was excited and ready to give it a shot. Well get this shit. THEY CLOSED YESTERDAY! What the what guys? Where the hell am I supposed to have magical brunch experiences if everywhere keeps closing?!?

  2. upforanything said: Oh dear god. Really? Their brunch was so good too! For informational purposes, Third Base (HAHA) does $7 bottomless. Reagan and I have considered it, but we better watch out for them to close next. New kickball bar, what?
