okay, ringlets - 10 years of irish step dance taught me a thing or two about these
definitely go vertical when you are heating them, either with curlers or a curling iron. be sure to unwind them vertically also or else they can flip to being waves. if you want them to stay really ringlety and bouncy after you unwind them loosely wrap them around your fingers and pin vertically to your head to let them cool. once they're all cool you can unpin and pull to the tight/looseness you want then spray spray spray.
good luck!!

Wow! Irish step dance?! Sounds intense!
Thanks for the reply… so I’m terrible with curlers so I’ll use a curling iron. What would you recommend for the size of the barrel? My hair goes about to my bra line in the back, and is not super fine, but not thick either.
