III Forks

My latest victim of restaurant week was III Forks. It is a restaurant fairly new to Austin (In the last couple of years) and has a location in Dallas and a couple of other locations in the US.

When you first get into the restaurant you feel like you’ve just entered some member’s only club from another time. The walls have rich, dark wood and the whole place is very dim. After we were seated the first thing I realized was there was actually a person playing piano in the lounge area. The lounge actually resembled a piano bar of sorts with all the tables facing the piano.

The staff was good but not overly friendly which makes me wonder if that’s how they were instructed to be. After we ordered the manager actually came by and introduced himself and said if there was anything we needed to let him know personally which was a nice touch.

The food was phenomenal. The appetizers we ordered were simple (French onion soup and a wedge salad) but very tasty. My main dish was filet wrapped in bacon and Sean got lamb chops. I’m not a fan of lamb but his was amazing! The desserts were fantastic as was the wine. They actually have a resident Sommelier, which I think is a very nice touch. Apparently they have a huge wine cellar too.

The best part of III Forks is the attention to detail they provide and the different ways they make the customer feel special. From the manager stopping at every table, to the actual wash clothes in the restroom they provide as hand towels, III Forks succeeds in making your dining experience fit for a queen!
