Who’s excited about ACL??
I know I am! This will be my third year to go and I am so ready! I love basically everything about music festivals, I mean what’s not to like? Days and days of non-stop music are always a good thing. There’s something about the energy at musical festivals that is just contagious. My only major complaint in years past has been the Texas elements which ACL has kindly decided to battle this year by changing the festival to the first weekend in October. The high for the entire weekend is 80 which is a nice break from our 100 degree streak we’ve been having in Austin.
Thanks to my handy ACL iPhone app I’ve got my schedule at the touch of a button and will have it with me at all times. It even has a map and a “What’s playing now” section so if you hear some sound you like you can figure out who it is. Some of the bands I’m looking forward to most are Kings of Leon, Citizen Cope, Toadies, Brett Dennen, and Girl Talk. Of course my favorite part is discovering new bands that are so amazing you don’t know how you have never heard of them before. I’m going to try and blog several times throughout the weekend about what I see. It will be interesting this year to see how social media and iPhones affect the musical festival because I know they will (assuming the network isn’t too jammed up to do anything). Stay tuned!
